The original internal linings were traditional horsehair plaster, and after so many years is brittle, unstable and completely irreparable – a mess to remove. We are updating all the wall linings with gypsum plasterboard. It’s very heavy stuff so a two-person job to get each sheet from street level up into the house. Then it’s a three-person job to glue and screw. Not for the fainthearted.
